The origins of the Oostburg State Bank can be
traced back to September 23rd, 1907 when a group of 39
residents met to discuss the organization of a bank in Oostburg.
At 8:00 p.m. at Weiler’s Hall (located on the 1st floor
of the Oostburg House on the north west corner of Center Avenue
and N. 10th Street)

Peter Daane was elected Chairman of the meeting and S.E.

Fuhrmann, E. Was, and John Brethouwer, were appointed. These
“tellers” counted votes during the meeting. When the group
adjourned at 10:30 p.m. the groundwork for the foundation of the
bank had been completed.
