Wisconsin Cyber Threat Landscape and What You Can do to Protect Yourself

Join us on Oct 23 at the Pine Hills Country Club for little breakfast and a lot of talk about cybercrime.

Special Agent Marshall Ogren, a cybersecurity expert with the Wisconsin Department of Justice – Division of Criminal Investigation, will lead an informative discussion on how to keep yourself and your business safe in cyberspace.

You have a chance to ask questions and learn from our own security expert, Jason Stewart, on what cybersecurity measures Oostburg State Bank has in place to protect you.

About the Event:
“Ever heard of a ransomware attack? How about phishing? Did you know criminals use manipulative tactics to trick people into giving them access to their computer and/or employer’s computer network? Incidents like these happen every day in Wisconsin. This presentation will provide a briefing of current security threats affecting end-users and ways users can protect themselves. This briefing is designed to be informative and mostly non-technical.”

About the Speaker:
Marshall Ogren transplanted from Minnesota to Wisconsin in 2002. He was hired as a police officer for the University of Wisconsin – Madison Police Department. Marshall worked patrol for about 10 years. During that time, he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Management of Criminal Justice from Concordia University Wisconsin. Marshall then obtained a Master of Science in Criminal Justice from University of Wisconsin – Platteville.

Marshall was promoted to detective in 2012 and attended the Digital Forensics Certificate program at Madison Area Technical College. He performed digital forensics for UWPD and other police agencies in Dane County. In addition to his digital forensics role, he functioned as lead investigator in persons crimes and cases involving computers/computer networks. In March, 2017, Marshall was hired as a special agent with the WI Department of Justice – Division of Criminal Investigation and is one of two special agents tasked to investigate cybercrimes throughout Wisconsin. Marshall is the proud father of two daughters: 20 months and 5 years old. Consequently, he is very often sleep deprived and incoherent.
